My ideal dream vacation consists of a combination of breathtaking nature, picturesque villages, adventure and relaxation. In my opinion, a vacation does not have to be complicated: book plane tickets, arrange a rental car and find a relaxing resort. No, that’s really not for me. My ideal vacation preferably starts spontaneously by taking a random Friday off. Then Thursday evening, after working, I get in the car right away to leave. Where to? That’s a big surprise even for myself. Here are some ideas on how to easily go on vacation and which direction to drive:
A person doesn’t actually need much. If you can build a bed and a toilet in your car, that’s enough. To prepare a delicious vegetable dish, simply use a campfire. This gives you the opportunity to get away from it all spontaneously.
Europe is a large continent where you can explore a lot. For example, drive north and be surprised by the breathtaking Scandinavian (Norway, Denmark & Sweden) nature. Once I found a small beach where I could join some random people for dinner from their barbeque. It was an evening to never forget.

The more I drove towards Finland, I was surprised by a sensational winter scene. Unfortunately, my car was not up to the large amount of snow. In itself that wasn’t so bad, as I didn’t had much time to drive any further. After all, I had to be at the office on time on Tuesday morning.
My dream is to drive once in the other direction: towards the south. From Amsterdam (Netherlands) you can be in Milan (Italy) in less than eleven hours. On the weather map, the weather in Milan looks much better than the cold, gray Netherlands. How wonderful it would be to sit on a terrace and enjoy a beer so early in the year. Of course, a real Italian pizza should not be missing either.
In the south, of course, there is much more to be found. Madrid (Spain) is also high on my wish list to enjoy a real sangria. Then I would prefer to drive straight to Lisbon (Portugal) to see the picturesque coastline with its spectacular cliffs with my own eyes. Then I would probably have to ask for more days off.
If I drive back to the Netherlands and I accidentally pass by Paris (France), a French breakfast shouldn’t be missed either. Oh, a croissant just out of the oven, freshly made coffee and a jus d’ orange. My mouth is already watering.

So, a vacation does not have to be complicated: to consist of several weeks of lugging (heavy) suitcases around the airport. Keep it simple, then you’ll enjoy everything you encounter the most. Then you will also have the most interesting conversations during your lunch break at work (or when you are reunited with your friends).
These are some YouTube channels with brave people I got my inspiration from:
⁃ Martin and Rebecka – self converted bus (Swedish, speaks Swedish)
⁃ Robin and Amalia – self converted bus (Swedish, speaks Swedish)
⁃ Eva – Landrover Defender (Polish, speaks English)
⁃ Maria (Roaming Reckless) – Landrover Defender (American, speaks English)
⁃ Noraly (Itchy Boots) – traveling by motorcycle (Dutch, speaks English)
⁃ Zoef (Zoef on the Move) – Volkswagen Up (Dutch, speaks English)
⁃ Mort – Seat Citigo – (English)
