A day by train

🇺🇸 Written in English

Bamse boards the sprinter train to Gouda at Amsterdam station. He is in no hurry, with no urgent destination to reach. All he has with him is a thermos flask of coffee and a book he bought in France last month.

A day

A day by train

In the compartment sits a girl with a violin case. She looks out the window, her fingers moving gently as if playing an inaudible melody. A man across from her reads the newspaper and frowns at every article.

The train passes meadows. The cows look up as if they want to judge the passengers. Bamse smiles. He thinks about how the world changes when you look at it from a moving train. Everything seems temporary, even worries.

He gets off at Gouda. Not because he has to be there, but because it feels right. He buys a stroopwafel, walks along the canal, and decides that sometimes traveling just means shifting yourself into a different rhythm.
